Episode 52
Review 10 — Expressions & Sequencing
Drill すぎる, がする, のあとで, and と in this 8-drill review episode closing the Expressions & Sequencing arc.
This is a drill episode. Four grammar points from the Expressions & Sequencing arc — no new material, just production practice. Intensity, sensation, sequence, and connection. Eight drills to make sure all four land cleanly.
What You'll Review#
| Grammar | Meaning | Introduced |
|---|---|---|
| ~すぎる / すぎます | too much, excessively | Episode 48 |
| ~がする / がします | sensation doing its thing (sound, smell, taste, feeling) | Episode 49 |
| noun + のあとで | after noun (time sequencing) | Episode 50 |
| と (listing) | X and Y — two nouns as equals | Episode 51 |

すぎる — Too Much Drill#
Pattern for い-adjectives: drop the final い and attach すぎます. Pattern for verbs: take the ます-stem and attach すぎます (present) or すぎました (past).

がする — Sensation Drill#

のあとで — After Drill#

Let's go shopping after work.
仕事のあとで買い物に行きましょう。

水とお茶を飲みます。
水とお茶を飲む。
I went to the park with my friend.
友達と公園に行きました。

The Expressions & Sequencing Arc#
This episode closes the arc covering episodes 48–51. Here's what you've built:
- Ep 48 — すぎる: describe excess and intensity
- Ep 49 — がする: express sensory experience through sensation-as-subject
- Ep 50 — のあとで: sequence events in time, standing "behind" the first event
- Ep 51 — と: place things beside each other — lists, companions, and natural results
- Ep 52 — This drill
Together, these four let you describe intensity, sense the world, sequence your day, and connect what you say. Next episode begins a new sub-arc: time and numbers.
